1 Water ring pump (or other intermediate vacuum pumps)

3 Air jet vacuum ejector with ptr = 1 bar abs. motive pressure
ps = suction pressure
pd = back pressure
= suction pressure of water ring pump
4 Valve for motive air
5 Start-up valve for by-passing air jet ejector
6 Optional partial recovery of the air/steam mixture emitted by water separator to be used as motive medium
7 Air discharge
Gas jet vacuum pumps remove gases and/or vapours from process operations thereby generating a vacuum in the reactor. The suction flow is compressed to a higher pressure.

Ship-building and chemical industry
- Evacuating suction pipelines of non-self-priming centrifugal pumps
- Indirect conveyance of liquids, e.g. for taking samples
Chemical industry and power plants
- As a pre-connected stage for liquid ring pumps to lower the suction pressure

- Indirect conveyance of liquid aluminium
