Due to their solid design with heavy flanges, Körting high-pressure ejectors immediately stand out among the variety of jet ejectors. As liquid jet liquid pumps, they are crucial components in urea-based fertiliser manufacturing systems. Carbamate, a by-product, is suctioned off by the high-pressure ejector and fed back into the process with fresh ammonia. Körting has consistently developed its expertise in designing and making these pumps since the early 1970s and is this product’s market leader today.

Extensive material tests

Customers have clear specifications as to which materials can be used. Carbamate causes serious corrosion, which therefore limits the choice of materials considerably. All licensors who sell urea fertiliser manufacturing machinery will each have their own comprehensive material specifications. Körting can meet all of these specifications and ensures that these standards are adhered to stringently, from the material procurement phase to manufacturing to testing and acceptance of the high-pressure ejector.

Furthermore, corrosion resistance has to be proven by carrying out special material tests before manufacturing commences. Special labs carry out these tests on behalf of Körting Hannover AG. The material has to be able to withstand various boiling processes in acid to very tight tolerances. Manufacturing can only start once these tests confirm that the material’s suitable for the subsequent process.

High operating pressure

The high-pressure ejector’s body is made of solid material. Nozzles and a heating jacket are then welded on. During operation, a high-pressure ejector must be able to withstand motive pressure of up to 230 bar and suction pressure of up to 145 bar at all times. These exceptional requirements mean that the ejectors have to be made of solid material and fitted with very robust flanges. In addition to flange designs, the high-pressure ejectors can also be welded onto the plant’s process pipes. In order to verify the strength of the high-pressure ejector, a sample of the water pressure is taken before the product’s delivered to the customer. During this pressure test, pressure of up to 350 bar is added to the high-pressure ejector.

All these tests ensure that the customer receives a reliable, failsafe jet ejector. Feedback from a customer last year confirms that Körting high-pressure ejectors have long service lives. The customer sent two high-pressure ejectors made in 1976 to 1979 to Hanover for reconditioning. After in-depth servicing, the customer’s two jet ejectors were recommissioned.

High-pressure ejectors are also called HP ejectors, carbamate ejectors or HP carbamate ejectors.
