Droplet separator
A swirl droplet separator removes liquid droplets and sometimes solid particles from a gas flow (droplet separation) using centrifugal force (inertia) generated by swirling. The swirl droplet separator has no moving mechanical parts. The swirl droplet separator is often used in conjunction with gas scrubbers, jet scrubbers and columns.
In contrast to demisters, the swirl droplet separator can handle blockages, dust deposits and contamination and can also be rinsed during operation without causing any problems.
Swirl droplet separators are always used when the following requirements apply:
- Exceptional separation efficiency (droplets up to 5 µm)
- Low pressure loss
- Rinsing during operation
- Low maintenance
- Exceptional reliability and availability
