Particle-size distribution

Particle-size distribution indicates the frequency of a particle in relation to a specific characteristic. The diameter of the particle is the usual characteristic chosen.

In terms of dedusters and Venturi scrubbers, particle size distribution means the particles/the statistical distribution of the sizes of particles of dust and, in terms of demisters and swirl droplet separators, the same goes for liquid droplets.

The following graphics are often used to indicate the particle-size distribution:

  • TRC (total residue curve)
  • TSVP (total sieve passage curve)
  • Density distribution curve
  • RRSB particle size distribution (Rosin-Rammler-Sperling-Bennett)
  • Classification based on particle fractions
