Venturi scrubber
Venturi scrubbers are used to dedust gases. A fast relative velocity (highway effect) between the scrubbing medium and the gas flowing in the same direction as the gas is used to bind the finest solid and liquid particles from the gas flow to the liquid and separate them. Venturi scrubbers are one of the best and most reliable technologies available for wet dedusting via gas scrubbing.
Venturi scrubbers have no rotating or moving mechanical parts. They stand apart for the following reasons:
- Their simple and compact designs
- They require little maintenance
- Exceptional levels of reliability and availability
- Zero fire risk in the scrubber
- Low investment costs
Further steps can be taken to add more absorption and cooling functions to the Venturi scrubbing process. Because venturi scrubbers (unlike jet scrubbers) don’t create a pressure gain, but a pressure loss on the gas side instead due to the process, a pumped medium on the gas side or a pressure drop is always required for Venturi scrubbing.
